Reveal Your Enterprising You
Hi Everyone
I’m really excited today to announce the launch of Enterprising You a suite of e-learning materials designed to support students aged 16+ in the development of a portfolio of enterprise skills.
I’m psyched to announce this because it’s been my secret (badly kept) pet project for almost year and for my colleagues and I it’s been a real labour of love developing something that takes our approach to enterprise skills and combines this with an on-line platform to create something which is interactive, suitable for most post 16 learners and can be accessed from anywhere on the web.
The software covers seven key areas drawn from our model of Enterprise Skills:
- Self Awareness – Challenging the student to examine how enterprising they really are through a scenario based quiz.
- Life Goals – Setting life goals for nine different areas of the students life and examining how these fit together.
- Collaborative Working – Getting the student to reflect on how they can best work in a team by exploring Belbin’s team roles and their applicability to the student.
- Practical Creativity – Investigating creativity and how students can develop and apply creative techniques through videos, games and activities.
- Opportunity Awareness – Focusing on recognising opportunities around the students and moving past the barriers that hold them back through activities and reflection.
- Strategic Thinking – Provides a model model to help students structure their decision making process.
- Action Orientation – Developing action planning skills to help students start enterprise activities.
Each of the modules has a logical format with aims, content, activities to develop and test the students learning, these are delivered using a mixture of content, all interactive, which will guide their progression with some content designed to be taken off-line as printouts and used or re-used as required.
These resources are ideal for any school, college or university who want to help their students understand and develop enterprise skills. The course itself is fully web based and can be mounted on a VLE, institutional website or simply given out as a URL allowing access from anywhere in the world, at the students own convenience.
Equally the resources can be used as part of a class based activity, or series of sessions throughout the year, to aid this the software is provided with guidance sheets for staff and a certificate which can be given to learners to record completion of the modules.
I think its a pretty awesome little product that could help get a lot of people interested in enterprise, and developing enterprise skills.
I would like to thank my colleagues at Glyndwr for all their help and support, its really been a team product! Our programmer Dan and all the testers who have provided invaluable feedback – you really are awesome people!
