Reflections on Inspiring Enterprise 2011
Hi All
Well what a hectic week… Inspiring Enterprise was a fantastic conference experience with 40 delegates from across the UK attending Glyndwr University’s Catrin Finch Centre (and more participating on-line).
These luck people heard a group of internationally acclaimed speakers discuss enterprise education with specific reference to leadership of this agenda in the curricula as a method of developing teaching, learning and assessment in a wide range of contexts; from nursing to design and engineering.
I’ve picked out three things from the conference that really stuck in my head:
1: Just do it – From Stacy’s talk I was hit by the idea that if you don’t embed enterprise in your curricula and teach your students how to be take advantage of the opportunities life has to offer someone else will…and your relevance will disappear pretty quickly!
2: Its Good Practice – All the speakers had a thread which enforced my knowledge that enterprising teaching, learning and assessment is just good practice; engaging students and involving them in self directed learning…something we can, and should all be doing.
3: Change happens in A Moment – From David Rae I began to understand that life changes in a moment and that learning and enterprise opportunity can hang on these split seconds… The conference was a great moment of learning for me and something I intend to build on in the coming months.
I would like to say thanks to everyone that spoke at and attended Inspiring Enterprise you all helped make this a phenomenal event…who knows maybe a mini virtual conference next year…just thinking?
