Informal University…
Hi Everyone
So maybe this is a stupid idea… I don’t know but I though I would throw it out there; After working at Glyndwr for a couple of years I think one thing our university is missing is a group where students from different areas can mix and discuss academic work and ideas, drawing support and inspiration from other members and their diverse activities.
I’ve got a couple of ideas for how this could work… so I’m going to try and set it up…perhaps with a couple of meetings over the summer. My concept is pretty simple, I want to find a small group 5/10 people who are prepared to meet every couple of weeks over a pint after university. For each session we will select a topic to discuss… it could be anything from assignment writing and presentation skills… to more philosophical, political or esoteric issues, the content will be shaped by the group. All members have to do is turn up and bring something relevant to the topic of discussion for that week.
I hope that this study group could really help people who only meet / work with people from the same academic background and want to develop their skills and abilities.
If your interested in this idea let me know and perhaps we can set up a meeting before the end of term
